Biography of Elie Hirschfeld

Elie Hirschfeld has been an avid art collector for more than 35 years. The diverse collection of Sarah and Elie Hirschfeld includes hundreds of works by many notable artists with a focus on original scenes of New York City.

Elie Hirschfeld is also the president of Hirschfeld Properties LLC, a leading New York-based real estate development firm. Hirschfeld Properties has engaged in the development or ownership of many of the most renowned office buildings, hotels, multi-family residential buildings, parking facilities, and retail projects in New York City.

Since he joined Hirschfeld Properties in 1976, Elie Hirschfeld has guided the development of many prominent New York City properties, including The Grand Sutton, the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Park Avenue Court, the Gotham, and Exchange Tower. Elie has also directed Hirschfeld Properties in collaborations with many other distinguished real estate development firms, including the Zeckendorf Organization, the Donald Trump Organization, Silverstein Properties, Empire Realty Group, Belz Enterprises of Memphis, and Simon Property Group. Innovative joint projects have included The Sports Club/LA, a completely vertical sports club; Manhattan Mall, one of the first vertical shopping malls in NYC and New York’s first open-air parking garage.

Before joining his father Abraham Hirschfeld in real estate, Elie Hirschfeld worked as an attorney at Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy with a focus on real estate, financing, and banking law. Elie Hirschfeld received his law degree from New York University School of Law and his undergraduate degree from Brown University, where was President of his class.

Through the Hirschfeld Foundation, Elie Hirschfeld contributes to numerous philanthropic causes with a focus on education, healthcare, athletics, and the Jewish community. Mr. Hirschfeld serves as trustee emeritus of Brown University, trustee emeritus of Long Island University, Director of the U.S. Board of the Weizmann Institute of Science, and trustee of numerous New York City hospitals. Elie Hirschfeld has also served on the Board of Directors or Steering Committees of many other organizations, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Jewish National Fund.

Elie Hirschfeld is a Tony Award voting member of The Broadway League and has produced and co-produced numerous Broadway shows. He is also a competitive athlete who has completed over 75 triathlons and 11 marathons.
