Charles Ephraim Burchfield (1893-1967)

Charles Ephraim Burchfield was an American watercolorist known for pieces that reflect nature and the effect of Industrialism on America. His small-town and industrial scenes put him in the category of the American Scene or Regionalist movement. Some of his paintings can be found in The Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Museum of Modern Art. Burchfield has also been described as a Social Critic, Naturalist, a master of the watercolor medium, and a visionary whose sensitivities are portrayed in his artwork.
