The Sarah & Elie Hirschfeld Art Collection
Elie Hirschfeld enjoyed a beautiful view of Washington Square Park from his apartment window during his years at NYU Law School. The view of that Greenwich Village landmark earned a special place in Mr. Hirschfeld’s heart. In 1987, Elie Hirschfeld became the proud owner of Thomas Hart Benton’s painting entitled The Artist’s Show, Washington Square Park.
Acquiring this painting sealed Elie Hirschfeld’s fate as an avid collector of original art scenes of New York City. Today, the art in the Collection of Sarah and Elie Hirschfeld includes work by Francoise Gilot, Norman Rockwell, Frank Stella, Andy Warhol, and many others. Supporting great art is the way Elie Hirschfeld expresses his gratitude for living in the cultural epicenter of the United States.
Over the past few decades, Elie Hirschfeld has had the joy of collecting hundreds of works of art inspired by New York City. Sarah and Elie Hirschfeld are honored to share some of the collection on this website, and through loans of their art to museum exhibitions.
Elie Hirschfeld hopes that you will enjoy the art collection as a unique window into the history of New York, its art, and the artists who portray it.
